3.Any ‘Notes’ (subjective views mainly, on some of the qualifiers)

Rioja Day – after 16 previous goes over hurdles he has yet to get his head in front- maybe today is the day? I find it interesting that Brooke is back on for the first time since last April I think, and the headgear returns- the lack of it may be an excuse for the shocker LTO. His mark keeps coming down, this is a very weak race on paper, and he has handles heavy in the past. There is also the odd place- mainly at Muss in November, and Ayr last Feb, which if either were repeated would be enough to get involved here I think. The yard is a bit cold, 0/12,1p last 30 days. Clearly he is hard to win with and it will be interesting to see what the market does. There is enough there for me to have a go personally, given he is 10/1s+ and a ratings pointer horse, but it wouldn’t be a confident poke. But then you wouldn’t be shocked were he to run quite well.

Robert The Bruce- well the market may well guide in terms of confidence – finding McCains NHF winners in the 17/2-40/1 range is hard- 7/193, but they do happen every now and then. This horse is unexposed and unraced under rules, and in theory ‘could be anything’.

  • I like Bosham in the 3:55 W. Reasons as follows:-
    Trainer last 14 days has ran 14, 4 Winners & 11 placed!
The Sire Sharmadal has had 55 runners over this 6f, 17 won 27 placed (5 year figs).
Bosham has only ever done this 6f twice and not since Sept 15 but is 2 from 2! His current form is decent and dropped 2lb since last run. Has a decent draw in 2 and should get a easy lead in a race that lacks pace.
I Think 9/1 is to big.
