Members Report: 11/03/16 (COMPLETE)

There is a new post up (yes another one, apologies!) click the blog tab at the top.

I have tipped Monetair – 1 point win 16/1 – (PP,non runner no bet) for the 4.10 on Day 3. You can read that post to find out why etc, as well as some notes I made when going through all of last year’s races today. (mainly to see of ‘the pace theory’ worked out, but a few horses entered my thinking, including that one above) Incidentally the Pipes are really hitting form now..

Appears as though he has not been declared at this stage – how very strange – interesting which of other two engagements he may get in…damn. Free bet awaits!

STATS/ANGLES OF INTEREST

2.35 Limerick – Rebel Ace 14/1 – trainer is 2/7, 3 places with handicap hurdle debutants in last year. This one has done nothing in three maiden hurdles, nothing all – although been a big price. He could just not be very good, but maybe the market will offer some guidance.

4.35 Looks a tricky 3 runner race but will just highlight that our old ‘friend’ Bashford Ben lines up – trainer could not be in better form and he stays further than this – cant work out whether this trip is too short, but in this ground, at this stiff track, his one pace galloping may be enough. Whiskey Chaser also lines up and he was an eye-catcher behind Proud Gamble LTO – a race like this looks well within his compass. Pace is the tricky thing – all three like to lead and get on with it so I have no real idea what will unfold – this may  go to the jockey who decides to sit off the two that go at it (a bit like Rocky Bender at Huntindon recently) BB doesn’t have to lead – and his trainer is 4/7 in last 14 days. Tricky, a strong case can be made for all three so I wont tip in it.

That is all for today. Time allowing I may try and get the Gold Cup done and dusted, so keep an eye out for that later this afternoon. I plan to get Imperial Cup tips up today also.

  • our old friend, the consistent but frustrating Mr Red Clubs is going again tomorrow in the 6.15 Cfc

quite fancy his chances to get his nose in front this time. lost a very short way to the favourite at Kempton, who now concedes 5lb to Mr Red Clubs

    Will consider backing him

    • Of all the unfathomable tracks Chelmsford has to be the most unfathomable, frankly I can’t see the point of punting on anything there.

    • Don’t forget that Whiskey Chaser was trying to give Josh’s Proud Gamble 22lb when beaten less than a length last time?

  • Free Cheltenham Win & EW Yankee & Big race preview for the fours days – http://www.betalchemist.com/cheltenham-festival-2016-previews – are Betfred still double the odds on only one winner?

  • Good stat for the flat from the Racing Post today – A P O’Brien 24% when Tongue tie fitted first time. Has one 7.35 Dundalk but owner poor SR but 16/s could be EW shot?

    • I agree entirely james, I can see fatalities there as a mile straight on the AW will be brutal!

    • You are right, what a fantastic read for those of a Liverpool persuasion! Some great lines/words in there – ‘kloppball’ and ‘Anfield went bats’ – brilliant! Not many can live with us in that atmosphere, playing that way. United were dire mind, just awful – but takes nothing away from the dominance, we/crowd/team made them play that way. Still, 1 leg to go.

  • Looks like Monetaire a non runner now Josh in the 4.10 Thursday

    • yep, just seen that, cant quite believe it – they either fancy him for something else or reckon they have something better in race.(or he is injured) Not to worry, no damage done. That’s why I am not much of an AP punter, clearly! 🙂

  • What’s the Scoop virtually running out was comical.

Not so comical if you backed the horse, of course!
