Just a quick note to say that I think the Great British weather has put paid to any confident wagers on Saturday. There are two decent sprint handicaps at Ripon I was looking forward to getting stuck into but the ground could be anything between good and heavy depending on rain levels. If it is heavy form can go out the window and horses who you though couldn’t win at the class can look like world beaters if handling the ground best. Often a lot of horses are yet to prove they definitely won’t handle the ground.
In the big one, if it is soft or worse I can’t get Poyle Vinnies win out of my mind at Hamilton, where he sluiced through the mud and made all. Whether there was a track bias I am not sure, and I am not sure how strong that was. But, he is drawn in 1 and I suspect they may try and make all on him. An interest EW bet may go that way from me but it wouldnt be an overly confident wager. Tatlisu chased him home that day and my not be far away.
Spinatrix looks primed to run another stormer in the race and there is a sneaky unexposed runner from the Fahey stable near the bottom of the card.
Al Kahn caught my eye last time out on debut for Kevin Ryan but he looks to be a good to firm horse, but is one for the notebook in a strongly run sprint on decent ground moving forward. I think Shore Step is a top of the ground horse, but hasnt proved he doesnt handle cut and as such could run a solid race after his decent run LTO in what was a better race than this I think at Goodwood.
All in all it doesn’t look a race to go mad in, nor a day to get too involved in my opinion, just a few too many unknowns.
I will look to see if there is a Tip of The Day horse to back, and if so this will be up by 10am.
Enjoy your weekend
